Adelisa Selimbašić

Adelisa Selimbašić (b. 1996, Karlsruhe, Germany) is an Italo-Bosnian artist based in New York, known for her depictions of the female form.

A graduate of Venice’s Academy of Fine Arts, she explores cultural identity through a unique visual language—blurring reality and dreamlike abstraction with bold, tactile brushwork. Adelisa’s art twists traditional ideas of womanhood, exploring identity with both curiosity and boldness. Inspired by the performative closeness of social media, her paintings feel personal yet elusive—faces dissolve into ambiguity, while bodies flow together, resisting easy definition.

In her current practice, Adelisa Selimbašić is fascinated by physical touch—its pull, its tension, the way it connects us. Her paintings celebrate bodies and female solidarity, using rich, layered colors to tell these stories.
