Alfie Rouy (b. 1998, England) explores how energy can be captured, transmuted, and passed on to the viewer to ignite inner disruption and introspection. His practice balances the rational and intuitive minds, engaging with timing, space, rhythm, and breathwork, all aligned with meditative awareness throughout the creative process. Each piece becomes a moment of presence, seeking to express the truest outcome possible in the unfolding of its creation. The broader intention is to move toward balance, coherence, and a deeper understanding of oneness.
Aiming to provide insight into this, Rouy’s paintings are defined by confined yet free-flowing forms expressing elements of unity and displacement through abstruse imagery, creating a dynamic balance between precision and spontaneity. Here, displays of feathered shapes and orbital rhythms are accompanied by a formulated array of rich, contrasting colours interwoven with complimentary textural marks, constructing a layered visual language that plays with tension and harmony.
Through these orchestrated yet intuitive gestures, Rouy invites the viewer to release themselves from the given moment, to sit with the work and allow it to respond to them and allow it to act as a catalyst for inner transformation.
