Davide Serpetti (L'Aquila, 1990) - Italian artist who works between L'Aquila and Milan. He studied at the NABA (Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti) in Milan and obtained an MFA from The Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Ghent, Belgium in 2015.
Davide Serpetti's artistic approach is a profound pictorial investigation into the value of the image and of painting as an act of creation in a world already saturated with visual stimuli. More specifically, he explores the relationship between icons and power. Drawing on three recurring motifs — the hero, sculpture and animals — he explores how these forms convey meaning. Myths have long narrated the triumph of the hero over the beast, while Carl G. Jung suggested that true freedom comes from confronting and integrating the shadow. In Serpetti's work, these archetypes serve as symbolic representations of purpose, ideals, and emotions, providing a means to examine the intricacies of human nature.
