Dmitry Ligay (b. 1986, Tashkent, Uzbekistan) is an artist and illustrator. A graduate of the Tashkent Institute of Architecture and Civil Engineering's Faculty of Design, he began his career as a commercial illustrator before completing his studies, collaborating with internationally recognized agencies such as Bang!Bang! Studio (Moscow) and Debut Art (London).
His career as an illustrator allowed for boundless artistic experimentation, shaping the core principles of his visual language—a distinctive blend of meticulous attention to detail with vibrant storytelling. This period of commercial work laid the foundation for his transition to more authentic art, enabling the artist to explore deeper conceptual themes while maintaining the disciplined craftsmanship of his early practice.
Dmitry Ligay's artistic practice delves into the intricate relationship between human consciousness and the external world, probing the metaphysical dimensions of our thoughts and their interplay with surrounding influences. His work transcends literal environmental concerns, focusing instead on what he terms "the ecology of the mind"—the invisible forces that shape perception, from societal pressures to psychological undercurrents.
