Remus Grecu (b. 1976, Bucharest, Romania) is best known for his deeply psychological paintings, rendered in a distinctive representational visual language. His works are marked by surrealism, the absurd, and incisive sociological commentary, depicting dream-like figures suspended in an 'in-between' state—frozen in time and space, caught between reality and reverie.
A graduate of the University of Arts in Bucharest, Grecu's artistic trajectory has been shaped by stark contrasts. After leaving Romania, he immersed himself in London's nightlife before retreating to the solitude of Scandinavian forests, where the whispering wilderness became both muse and metaphor. These extremes—urban frenzy and isolated stillness—echo throughout his practice, infusing his enigmatic compositions with tension and introspection.
Drawing inspiration from the luminous precision of Renaissance masters, Remus reinterprets classical ideals through a contemporary lens.
