Slava Vorontsov

Viacheslav Vorontsov (1987, USSR). Lives and works in Paris.

Born in 1987 in the village of Tazovsky, above the Arctic Circle, in the Tyumen region of the USSR, he grew up in a family of artists and is the great-grandson of Russian realist painter Vasily Vereshchagin.

He began his artistic journey by studying at an art school, later exploring street art graffiti, tattooing, and clothing design. In parallel, he developed a strong passion for music, releasing 15 solo albums and producing music videos.

His work draws inspiration from religious subjects, exploring themes of war and peace, as well as emigration as a refugee. His exploration also delves into themes of sexuality, addressing its complexities and cultural implications.

Anthropological and theological references are superimposed on images of the unconscious. Viacheslav Vorontsov orchestrates these elements into large-scale works with deep and sombre colors, reflecting his varied and eclectic personal universes.
